When I wrote The Atonement of St. Jude, I honestly had no idea how it would be received. Like most first time authors, you spend months, even years, wondering whether anyone else will enjoy the story as much as you enjoyed writing it.
The response has been wonderful and I’d like to say a genuine thank you to everyone who has bought the book, read it, reviewed it or simply recommended it to someone else. Every kind word has meant a great deal and has given me the encouragement to carry on with Sue Chapman’s story.
And that’s exactly what I’m doing.
The second book is well underway. At the moment it’s called The Judgement of St. Mary, although titles have a habit of changing while I’m writing, so don’t hold me to that just yet!
Sue has been promoted and transferred to the beautiful town of Rye in East Sussex. It’s a place full of history, old streets and quirky characters, but beneath the surface something far more sinister is happening.
As the town prepares for its famous Rye Fawkes celebrations, members of a well known local volunteer organisation begin to die. The Serious Crimes Unit believes it has solved the case and an arrest has already been made.
Sue isn’t so sure.
Teaming up once again with Dana Popescu, she begins to suspect that the police may have arrested the wrong person. If she’s right, then the real killer is still out there.
There are plenty of questions to answer.
Will Sue finally find romance?
Will Dana discover who has been stalking her?
Will the real killer be brought to justice?
And perhaps the biggest question of all…
Will I ever finish writing the thing?
I’m thoroughly enjoying being back with these characters and I hope you’ll enjoy returning to them just as much when the book is finished.
For now, though, you’ll have to be patient.
Watch this space…
